Visitors to Castle Cary railway station will no doubt recall the red brick building and iconic chimney next to the ticket office. Built in 1908 as a dairy, it had fallen into disrepair until new owners David and Clare Tupman, renovated, refurbished and reinvented it as a hub for antiques in Somerset.
The Factory is a new antique centre at the station in Castle Cary. We have 7 experienced dealers from Brighton, Bath, London, Devon and Somerset exhibiting an eclectic mix of high quality antiques. Lighting, furniture, mirrors, beds and all manner of decorative items are displayed on the two floors of the building.
The Somerset Wine Company, located at The Factory in Castle Cary, is a contemporary style, independent, locally focused 'social wine shop'. Run by Camilla Wood, a wine trade professional with a specialism in Italian wine, the shop is beautifully designed in a vintage industrial style.
Catherine's colourful corner of The Factory is brimming with Kantha quilts, bright cushions and stunning cashmere. She has a selection of jackets made from these vintage pieces and her new cashmere range is proving very popular. Catherine provides a bespoke tailoring service.
The Factory is also becoming known as an eating venue where we do a pop-up restaurant every few weeks. Guests are greeted with a glass of prosecco, canapes and a chance to try and buy wine from Camilla to drink with their 4 course dinner.
We also do private parties and wine tasting and have an exhibition space for hire.
